Replace the seat if you expect to do any long trekking. After you get the brakes seasoned and working sort of good, swap out the pads to a grippyer version.
I am by no means an expert road rider as this is my first owned road bike. With that said, I can only compare this bike against a friend's road bike that I used to ride in San Francisco. The hills and mountain from the friend's road bike was a struggle. However, this bike took every incline (and I made sure to find one comparable to some of the inclines in SF) and this bike climbed it very easily. I didn't have to shift down to the smaller cog so there's opportunity for bigger inclines with this bike. I took it for a spin for the annual L.A.T.E. ride and it handled the city streets and bumps just fine. Matter of fact, the saddle was good enough that my butt wasn't too sore compared to my old bike. This bike was meant for a more endurance ride and it held up as advertised. Hardly felt fatigue after the ride and had more left in the tank. The steering is very responsive and the breaks was a life saver as I almost went over a curb and with a heavy fog and moisture the breaks stopping power was very, very strong. When I wanted to sprint out ahead of a pack, the reaction was instant and made maneuvering fun. This bike is fun, comfortable, and worth the investment based on my test rides in the store comparing other bikes.
