Bontrager Node 1 Digital Computer

This is the information age, so your bike's computer should be, ahem, up to speed. Bontrager's next-generation Node Digital Computer lets you train smarter with speed, cadence, programmable heart rate zones, wattage and even a nutrition reminder on one easy-to-read screen so you don't have to play with buttons while you ride. Node computers can receive data from 3rd party power devices that are ANT+ compatible like SRM cranks and PowerTap hubs, too.

With this computer you can have up to 2 bicycles configured, I use this in my road (23c) and cyclocross (38c) bikes with no issues. Nice big numbers for the quick check.

I had no problems getting the computer to work. Not the most expensive one out there but it does all that I need it to. I would buy the same one if something ever happend to this one. Very pleased and no complaints.

      Comments:

Just got back into road biking to help ward off the long term effects of TypeII Diabetis. I wanted to be able to track and log my riding information. Installation of both speed trap and cadence sensors were EZ. I especially like the speed trap that fits nicely into the front fork of my Trek 2.1. All functions work well and with a little practice, the Node functions are simple to master. Save yourself some time and possible frustration..both sensors came with batteries. Install a fresh set. No telling how long they've been on the shelf. The heart rate monitor will be my next purchase. I'm well pleased with the Node I and associated sensors.

        Comments:

Just installed my Node-1 and had an annoying 20 mins setting it up (pairing). The computer and its functions work great! However there are NO instructions on were to position the magnets. You will know they are right when you see an LED flash on the face of the sensor (chain-stay sending unit). Once set up it works great. I rode with a few friends and the speed and odometer were spot on in comparison to the others. I also did not experience any signal "cross talk". The screen characters are large and easy to read. I can't speak on durability as I just installed it but it appears to be well constructed and nice to look at. The sending unit blends right into my Madone's chain-stay, unlike others that are zip-tied to the frame. This is a very smooth setup if you have a bike that accepts it. I will be getting the heart rate sending unit soon and start tracking my improvements.
